On Monday, January 21, the St. Mary's youth group helped with St. John the Wonderworker's Loaves and Fishes program. Not only did the youth help prepare and serve the food for the homeless, they were also greatly blessed to help ready the kitchen and reception area for the upcoming funeral of Father Jacob. They swept floors, cleaned and reorganized cabinets, cleaned counters, appliances, door jambs, and any thing big or small that they could in order to help make every corner spic and span. They were also able to separate bags of donated items such as socks, scarves, food, and water to be distributed as they are needed. The youth worked hard the entire day and were of great service to all.

Phoebe, who is in charge of running the Loaves and Fishes on a daily basis, was quite impressed with our youth. They didn't stop working until Phoebe told them there was nothing else for them to do. There were no complaints and they did their work cheerfully. The youth did not do just the normal work that most volunteers do. St. John's needed the kitchen and reception area cleaned for Saturday and they just couldn't figure out when it was all going to get done. These children provided that for them. Everyone wants to come back again and they would love to have us.
